Alive and Decently Well

Start my new job tomorrow: Library Technician in the city's private school for girls: the one where tuition for Kindergarten is five figures.

Am excited, the people there seem really nice - I've chatted with the librarian a bit and she started talking with me as if she'd known me for years, which made me feel really comfortable. Only downside is communication between the school and myself hasn't been great, but, I start tomorrow so no big deal.

It's a half-time job, 8:30-12:30 so I'm still working part-time at a store close to home otherwise. Downside is I'm up at 6:30 every morning, but I'll get used to it.

Still living at home - Steph's bought a car so we can't move right away but we've been on waiting lists for some nearby townhouses and such for a while now, hopefully by November/December we can get a place. Assuming Steph has enough saved up again by then.

That's about it!

I just found out my mom grew up with Doug Henning. Huh.

Very little news update wise. Still in school. Miss family in Australia. Same old.

Well, again I only have 1 class today - both a good and bad thing. It means I travel 2 hours for 2 hours of class. That makes it a giant yuk. I am also sneezy today.

But! It means I can get ahead on work again - after last week, there's very little homework for a while now so I feel less stressed and can work ahead on everything. Makes me feel better.

Hopefully my hours at the Millennium Library aren't 8-4 or something so I'm not up at 6am every day. Yuk. After talking to Melissa it doesn't seem terrible, but I was really hoping for something closer to home. At least now I have a better chance of working at the U of M in the middle of winter.

As for the election? UGH. That is all.

I got tagged by cirynne for this but people can do it if they want.

1) What is essential for your happiness?
To be able to do my own thing. And my family.

2) What are you wearing at the moment?
jeans, green skull socks and a navy long-sleeved t-shirt.

3) What is your spirit animal?
I took this test like Ciry, and it said I was a hawk. But my favourite animals are hawks, owls, foxes and horses. And kitties.

4) What is your favorite scent?
Vanilla, or wood smoke. I love the smell of wood smoke on a cool evening.

5) What video games are you playing at the moment?
Waiting on Fable 2, borrowed Assassin's Creed to try out tonight... Steph wants me back into WoW but school keeps me busy.

6) What do you drink the most?
Water by far.

7) What color is your car?
My parent's silver van.

8) Who was your first big crush?
Big? If by big you mean gigantic, it'd be Matt starting in 7th grade.

9) What did you want to be when you grew up?
Archaeologist or writer.

10) What mythical figure are you?
Not a clue.

11) What characters are overrated?
Anything vampire or werewolf.

12) What 3 people do you invite to dinner?
Parents and sister.

13) What is your current desktop?
The picture my berry icon comes from. FMA picture on my other one.

14) What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
A very nice friend. <- Ciry's answer but it works.

15) What are you afraid of?
Loosing my family. <- Same

16) What's your favorite article of clothing?
A great fitting pair of jeans.

17) What are you into right nows?
Same as Ciry. School.

18) What did you do today?
Went to school.

19) What do you want?
To be finished with my studies. <- Same as Ciry.

20) What should you be doing right now?
There's always homework to do.

21) What's the meaning behind your LJ username/name/nicknames you go by?
Playing with a magnetic poetry book. I'd come up with "liquid morning through bruised avenues" randomly and ended up changing it around to "bruised garden" and stuck with that.

Having to watch the Canadian Debates to write a paper on is torture. They're all just pitching hissy fits and pulling hair.

Edit: All is good, they were just out of service range for a long while.

Know what's not a good way to have an evening by yourself?

Talking to your mom on the phone while they call you from the road to say they couldn't get a hotel so they'll be driving across the American/Canadian Border in the dark to get to their friend's place and then having the phone cut out on you on a raised voice.

Yeah. First it just rang a bit and went to voice mail, now it's a disconnected sound.

The upside is I had said something that would have made her laugh so that's probably what the raised voice was...

But still. It's been half an hour and I can't get ahold of them. I've called the people they're heading to to try for me too and call when they hear from them, though.

Not a fun evening here all by myself.

Hehehe. The people who did Death Note are now doing a manga about 14-year old kids who want to be mangaka. It's hilarious and great, they make fun of themselves and Death Note all through it. So far. It's new.

I also think it's hilarious that the artist that did Death Note did Hikaru no Go. I'd read that before I really knew what Death Note was. Hikaru no Go is an epically long manga about the game Go. Basically, a mix between CHinese Checkers and Chess.

Am I the only one who really, actually can't stand being alone in their own home for more than a few hours now and again? Mom and dad are gone again on their usual vacation for a couple weeks, and Steph works full-time now. Today and tomorrow I'm home by myself and it makes me really uncomfortable, even if the cats are here, too.

Hopefully Steph brings home a copy of Spore tomorrow so we can play though.

I can't even focus on homework when I'm here by myself. And there's not much on TV. Plus it's chilly.
